Romans 10:14, 15
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!
It’s so important that we realize that what we say can make a difference in someone else’s life. That is the time when things will start to change. When you realize that the fires you have gone through can be used for good, that is the time when you will refocus and begin to heal. You see, when you realize that something good can come from the pain you have gone through, it changes how you react to things.
Genesis 50:20
20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
It changes you from being a victim into a victorious warrior. It changes the way that you see yourself. And the way that you see yourself determines how and whether you will make it. If you see yourself as someone who has gone through the battle and yet you survived, you are well on your way to helping someone else and becoming stronger yourself.
So many people are in pain and in need of healing. When they know that someone else truly understands how they feel, we make a difference. When we can look another person in the eyes, hear their story, and feel their pain, and then are able to say, “I understand. I lived that too. I felt like I did not matter. But I am here to tell you that there is hope. There is a way to a brighter tomorrow. Your life here can make an incredible difference for you and for someone else. It all depends on how you view what you have gone through and what you do with all that you have gone through.”
You have no idea how much people need to hear that! They need to hear what only you can tell them. And if you do not open your heart or your mouth, they will not receive what God intended for them to receive.
Do you know what they were intended to receive? Healing! The healing that comes from knowing that they are not alone and that they can truly make it. The healing that comes from knowing that they do not have to suffer, and they do not have to go through it all alone!
When you can open yourself up enough to do that for someone else, then you can be the vessel that God wants to use to make a difference in someone else’s life. Are you willing to take that risk?
Jesus told a story about someone who did good for another person, though he was not obligated to. This story shows us how we can help one another.
Parable of the Good Samaritan found in Luke 10:29-37
But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”
And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
This story shows us that this man could have been left for dead, could have suffered more intensely than he had already.
The same is true if we turn a blind eye to someone who is in pain. We can choose to be like those who stepped over the man lying there, who had been beaten, we can choose to cross to the other side of the street and go on our way, or we can be like the Good Samaritan and reach out with the love of God and touch and heal. The choice is ours. It is always ours.
We need to get to a place where we understand that, though we are hurting, there are others who are hurting too. Though we are in pain, there are others in pain, too. Though we may be afraid, there are others who fear and are afraid too. We need to just do it, even if it means “Do it afraid.” We need to just do it.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t just need to know that someone else made it. I need to know how they made it. What happened to them on their way to victory?
If you can tell someone what God did for you and how He brought you through, then you are helping to equip and arm them to go through the battle right to victory. That is what will help them the most. Not just knowing that you made it, but how you made it.
People are so afraid to share what they have been through. They have so many fears of rejection. Thoughts like, “I can’t tell them that, what will they think of me?” So then fear keeps them from sharing, and they could be with someone who needs to hear what they have to say. Instead of it being a day of victory for both of them, they both walk away without what God intended for them to have. And that is healing and hope!
Have you been hurt? Have you ever been abused? Do you know heartache that no one else has felt? If so, then I pray that after reading this, you will know that you are not alone and that there is hope for you! There is Someone Who knows your pain as intimately as you yourself do. It is Someone you cannot hide from, Someone whose heart feels all that your heart feels, Someone Who knows all the hidden things in your heart that you feel you cannot tell anyone else about.
Jesus knows and HE longs to share your heartache and heal your heart from all the wounds that it has suffered. If you let Him, HE can change your life and put joy back into your heart. HE so wants to bless you, HE so wants to touch you and make you whole, HE is so loving and so kind, and HE has been forever waiting for you to call to Him. HE is just a whisper away. HE is as close as the air you breathe.
Your heavenly Father has been waiting just for you. HE waits daily to hear your voice speaking to Him. HE waits daily for you to ask Him to help you. HE wants to be everything that you need, HE wants to be your Source for every need. And HE is. HE loves you so much that HE will wait for you to trust Him. HE longingly and lovingly waits for HIS child to come and visit with Him. HE wants to put the joy back into your heart, and HE longs to strengthen you so that you are stronger than before.
Do you feel Him whispering your name? HE is. His voice is quiet, so you have to be still and quiet everything inside of you so that you can hear. You will hear Him if you will listen.
My heart’s desire is that you will come to a place where you know your worth, in your own heart and in your own eyes, just the way the Father sees you. There are many steps that we take along the way, but the journey is so worth it. You will not be disappointed. It is definitely a journey worth taking.
Also, I promise you that you will not have to take this journey alone. There are those who have gone through what you have, there are those who know your pain and suffering, and there is ONE Who will always go the distance with you. Jesus will go with you, so you do not have to go alone. I would not tell you that if it were not possible. Just have faith and believe.
Let’s Pray Together Now:
Father, I come before Your Throne of Grace today and ask for Your help. I don’t want to miss an opportunity to speak what You need me to speak to others.
I bind the spirit of fear that would keep me from sharing my heart with others, and I release and ask for Your peace and courage to be with me. Help me to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and to reach out to those who need me today. Give me the Words that You have chosen for me to speak.
I hide myself in You. I cling to You. Help me to really understand the love that You have for me. Help me change how I have been seeing myself up to now. The image I have of who I am has been wrong.
Help me to understand my worth and value through Your eyes. I receive all I need for this day right now. I depend upon You to help me through this day. I pray, declare, and decree this prayer today that it may be established according to Your Word in Job 22:28 in Jesus’ Holy Anointed Name and give You thanks. Amen. So be it.
Now rejoice, beloved, for your Heavenly Father has heard your prayer.
