Before the Ark Encounter’s debut, Ken Ham, the founder of the attraction, first opened the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. It is a 75,000-square-foot space that draws more than 2.5 million visitors a year. One reason for the large crowds may be the plethora of activities available. People have the opportunity to enter into the world of science and how it correlates with creation, learn about the biblical history of Adam and Eve or the Tower of Babel, hear stories about dragons and dinosaurs, and more.

Creation Science has many facets within the museum where guests learn about the mysteries of science and creation and how they go hand in hand. Science means “knowledge,” and it is the desire of the museum to share facts and logical arguments that many people have never considered before. Numerous Ph.D. creation scientists are employed to teach visitors anatomy, astronomy, biology, geology, and more from a biblical perspective.

Another feature is the Creepy Crawlies exhibit which is a collection of insects that was donated by Dr. Geoff Crawley in 2013. Here, people will meet Dr. Arthur Pod, an animatronic man who will answer questions about insects and teach inquisitors about their topics of choice.

If bugs aren’t your forté, head to the Stargazer’s Planetarium to hear from astronomers and scientists that confirm our earth’s young age and share how God’s word in Genesis is displayed across the night sky. Enjoy “vividly realistic images upon a 30-foot-diameter dome” that will let you travel anywhere in the galaxy. Learn more about the Christmas star and whether aliens are fact or fiction.

Museum-goers can make their way over to the Cedarville University Mining Company Sluice. Use kid-friendly charts to pan through and identify rocks and minerals, pick up a bag of buried treasure, and learn about how God created the earth in six days. Evidence of a young earth and the flood can be found within these rocks and minerals, further validating the story of creation.

Step back in time with the Bible History exhibit which features Days of Creation, an in-depth display that discusses time and its relativity to the six days of creation in Genesis. Join Ken Ham, the CEO and president of the Creation Museum and Answers in Genesis, and Russell T. Fuller, professor of Old Testament interpretation, as they explain the meaning of the word “day” in a theological, logical, and scientific sense. Furthermore, meet key church leaders throughout history, including Reformation leader Martin Luther, who have taken a stand for the truth of God’s Word. Next, dive into the explanation of the flood and learn about how the rocks have recorded its existence. Gain insight on how the flood also paved the way to the ice age. Then, visit the Tower of Babel display to learn how God repopulated the earth, created diversity among people, and made a promise of redemption to the nations.

Have you ever wondered what it was like in the Garden of Eden? Guests have the opportunity to learn about the original sin that caused man to fall and all of its consequences. They will enjoy a walk through what we imagine to be the ideal garden that God created at the beginning of time. During this trek, some unfamiliar animals may be seen, too.

Plenty of other things are waiting for you at your leisure, such as the various restaurants, the medieval-themed bookstore, which is full of one-of-a-kind selections, the Garden of Lights and live nativity in Christmas Town during the holidays, the petting zoo, and the ziplines! Recently opened in Washington, DC in November 2017 a 430,000-square-foot building was dedicated to the narrative of the Bible. It is called the Museum of the Bible, a larger-scale version of the miniature one found in the Creation Museum.
