a page from my journal
Sharing entries straight from my journal is the best way I know how to be authentic. What you are about to read is a snapshot. Some of these snapshots represent the way I was feeling on a single day. Others bring together my meditations over the course of days, weeks, or months. Whatever you are about to read, I hope you can find something relatable.
Hey Jesus – It seems like spiritual warfare has been coming up a lot lately. My perspective has changed over the years. Currently, I believe that I am supposed to fight from a position of victory and not for victory. I don’t need to strive to win, but I do need to abide in you in order to experience the victory you won for me.
Ephesians 6:1 says, “Now my beloved ones, I have saved these most important truths for last: Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you.” The manner of my warfare comes first from my attachment to you, Jesus, or lack thereof. The amount of God’s supernatural power that is able to flow through me is first and foremost dependent upon the quality and quantity of life-union I have with you.
Lord, you said, “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing (John 15:5).” Jesus won the war against ALL spiritual powers. The battles that I experience are the echoes of a defeated foe striving to fight.
But I am not the one that is supposed to fight.
You already won, Jesus. You made a public spectacle of the enemy. You have fully defeated them. The position I should take in the battle’s I fight is one of standing in the strength and might of my Lord.
Father, I know there is a very real enemy that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy from me. But that enemy can only do that if I make room for him. His whispers are only effective if I pay heed to them. Help me to submit more of me to you in order to resist the enemy even more. Help me to be transformed by renewing my mind to what you are speaking, Jesus.
So if Jesus already won the war, what is my part in the battle? There are probably 777 verses that I can read to give me a clue, but I feel like you are saying something to me through Ephesians 6:10.
Ephesians 6:10
Now my beloved ones, I have saved these most important truths for last: Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you.
Jesus, I receive the infusion of your supernatural strength right now. I choose to die a little more to myself in order to be more united with you. Come, Lord, and fill me with your dynamite power. I choose you. I submit to you. I resist the enemy. You are my King forever. Amen.
