I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. Exodus 6:7
Feeling trapped in a bad situation is a feeling that many people have on a regular basis. They do not like the situation but do not have a clue as to how to get out from under it. The burdens of the situation weigh them down and do not allow them to truly live and find joy in life.
God tells Moses to tell the people that He will take them as His people so that He will be their God and the One who delivered them from the burdens of the Egyptians.
Although many people feel free, they are trapped in slavery of burdens and troubles. Blinded by the ways of the world, people live in ways that only bring about death. Following false religions and false gods, people think that they are living life, but are actually slowly dying.
Burdened by the troubles of this world others will turn to drugs, sex, and other forms of entertainment to mask the pain that they are feeling. Enslaved by the sin of the world people are depressed and beaten down with no way to escape. This is their Egypt.
God has a message to tell the world. God is ready to make each and every person part of His people, His family. He has made a way for them to be set free from the burdens of Egypt and give them an abundant life. The burdens of sin and death will be removed and replaced with peace and joy. This freedom is for every person who chooses to believe the message of God.
You may feel trapped in your Egypt, some sin or belief that holds you down and enslaved to it. On your own, there is nothing you can do to get out from under it. God is right there wanting to set you free and give you life. Jesus paid the price so that you can be set free from your Egypt and that God may be your God, not the false gods of this world that only bring about death.
Will you allow God to be your God? Will you allow God to set you free from your Egypt?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will allow God to take you out of Egypt; that God will break the bondages of sin and death in your life; that you will be able to live for God; and that you will know the freedom you have in Christ.
