Many people love to quote, Hebrews 4:12, but few people actually understand what it truly means because we’ve either been taught wrong or our perceptions of God Himself are wrong. We tend to not understand the underlying reasoning behind it.
“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Probably a better translation of this verse might be, “For the ‘Logos’ Word that God Speaks (Turns into Rhema) becomes Alive, Energized (Full of Power), discerning everything that it touches (Sharper than any double-edged Sword) Deciphering between that which is spiritual and that which is carnal while able to judge the deep, inner motivations of a person’s heart.
While I’m not a biblical scholar by any means, one of the things that the Holy Spirit has taught me about His Word, is that it transforms from a “Logos” Word to a “Rhema” Word every time that it’s declared or touched by the Holy Spirit Who Quickens it, or makes Alive, everything that He touches.
So any time that the Precious Presence of the Holy Spirit interacts with us, as His Sons and Daughters, He brings life to us (He Quickens us) because that is the natural thing that happens whenever He’s present.
So whenever you and I, as Born Again Sons and Daughters of God through Jesus Christ, ask the Holy Spirit to interact, converse, teach, train, heal, or restore us, He comes and His Presence Brings to life everything that He interacts with because His Presence IS LIFE!
“It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it]. The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are spirit and life.” John 6:63
So when it says that the “Word That God Speaks Is Alive and Full of Power” it’s not just referencing the time that He originally spoke it, (for the first time), it’s talking about every time that the Holy Spirit’s Presence Highlights it over and over again to your life or the lives of others around you!
The Holy Spirit doesn’t just bring life, the Holy Spirit is the Embodiment of the Life of God Himself! So that every time that He comes upon us or Quickens us from within, He’s releasing His Supernatural Life upon our Natural realm and our Personal Identity!
The results of that usually come in the form of Healing, Restoration, Transformation, Spiritual Awakening, Banishing of fear, Removal of Depression, and any other side effects of the demonic realm!
As He (the Holy Spirit) transforms us from the inside out, into the Image of the Son of God, we become more and more like the Life-Giving Spirit that Jesus Christ is, and less and less like the living soul that our forefather Adam was. (1 Corinthians 15)
If you’ve been called by Jesus Christ into a real relationship with Him, then you’ve been designed by God for Transformation! Christianity is not a religion it is the beginning of a Transformational Process, by which the Holy Spirit (The Life of God) changes our lives into His Life while we’re here (Galatians 2:20)!
The Holy Spirit wants to turn your life into a Living Word from Him, not written upon tablets of Stone, but upon your heart and mind, the question is, WILL YOU LET HIM DO IT?
