Omni- is a prefix of Latin origin which means all, universal. Omnipresent is a theological term that means “always present.”

GOD SURROUNDS US. God’s nature and being are so vast that King Solomon said in his prayer in 1 Kings 8, “Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You” (ESV). If the heavens cannot contain God, then no one can. In His infinitude, He surrounds us and all finite creations; He contains us all.

GOD IS WITH US. To know that God is omnipresent is one thing; to feel His presence at all times is another. To say “Thank You, Lord!” during happy and ‘okay’ days is just right; to ask Him “Where were You?” during difficult times is not accurate as He never leaves us even when we do not feel Him.

God is always near us, always next to us, closer to us than our thoughts, immediately accessible in our hearts. Knowing that God is an omnipresent God “should maintain us in a state of high moral happiness most of the time. But not all the time…” says A.W. Tozer. “As a child may cry out in pain even when sheltered in its mother’s arms, so a Christian may sometimes know what it is to suffer even in the conscious presence of God.” But fear not and worry not; everything is going to be well.

GOD SEES US. He sees where we are and what we do. We can never hide from Him—like when Adam and Eve tried to hide after eating the forbidden fruit (Gen. 3:8). We can never run from Him—like when Jonah tried to flee after being asked to preach in Nineveh (Jon. 1:3). There is no place so hidden and so far that the Lord cannot see. His reach extends beyond all corners and edges of the universe.

The omnipresent God looks upon us, and He looks after us always. He knows our lows and highs, our sorrows and happiness, our pains and joy. “I am with you” and “I will be with you” are mentioned several times by God in the Bible, enough to keep us reminded that He is with us all the time. He promised to never leave us nor forsake us. ❤️

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV).
