What Gods Do You Trust In?

Upon true repentance, turning away from the false gods, God is quick to step in, forgive, and help.

Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen; let them deliver you in your time of distress. Judges 10:14

There are many times when a person, who is going through a tough time, has help right in front of him, but he rejects that help. He goes to someone or something else, trying to do it on his own, and falls into greater trouble.

Once this happens, he realizes his mistake and tries to go back to the original offered help. Sometimes, the original help will refuse to help him because it was originally rejected or ignored.

The Israelites had rejected God and turned to false gods. After getting into trouble, they cried out to God. God told them to go to their false gods, and that they had chosen to allow the false gods to save them.

During times when things are going well, many believers are quick to reject or ignore God and follow after the false gods of this world. Promises of wealth, happiness and pleasure are made by the false gods, but all that is received is temporary and dissatisfying and death.

Once this occurs, believers will cry out to God for help. All they see God for is help in time of desperation or trouble, not the God of all of their life.

Sometimes God will ignore the cries, telling them to go back to their false gods that they had chosen to serve. He is waiting for a true change of heart, true repentance from the bottom of the heart for the sin they had done against God, following the false gods.

Upon true repentance, turning away from the false gods, God is quick to step in, forgive, and help. This true repentance puts God on the throne and removes the false gods in one’s life.

As a believer, God has done many different things in your life. You must be willing to ask yourself if you are allowing false gods back into your life.

Do not allow yourself to turn back to the false gods of this fallen world that cannot help you. Repent of following any false gods and turn your heart back to God. He is willing to forgive you, save you, and restore you.

Then keep your life completely focused upon serving God and God alone, both in the good times and in the bad times.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will reveal any false gods in your life; that God will give you strength to reject any false gods; that you will serve and trust God alone; and that you will see God’s strength and help in every situation in your life.
