The Greatest Nation

We reveal the goodness of God by a demonstration of what it means to be a citizen of Heaven.

The greatest nation is not defined by language, borders, or customs. It is a spiritual nation formed by God that stands in authority over all the nations of the Earth. It is a nation formed within the person of Jesus Christ that will endure long after all the nations of this world come to an end.

Peter wrote, “You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light” (I Peter 2:9).

Only by understanding the authority of our ultimate citizenship – a heavenly citizenship defining us as God’s very own possession – can we begin to live among the nations of Earth and make a Kingdom difference. That difference will begin to affect the reasoning, law and politics, and cultural attitude of those nations where we reveal the goodness of God by a demonstration of what it means to be a citizen of Heaven. God’s goodness is seen most clearly when people begin to realize they have accepted and believed a false goodness, a counterfeit goodness that leads to emotional and spiritual slavery. When eyes are opened to the hope of a greater citizenship it is then that revival and a resulting reformation will begin.
