For wisdom will enter your heart
And knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
Proverbs 2:10 (NASB1995)
Do you have a treasured gift, something that reminds you of a precious occasion or of someone dear to you? The wedding ring I wear was originally my grandmother’s on my mum’s side; it reminds me of my Godly gran and grandad. I also wear a simple golden cross alongside an anchor around my neck; the cross was my mum’s, the anchor is a treasured gift from my wife some years ago. These treasured items are pleasant to me, reminding me of the love of these dear ones and their encouragement to me to follow God.
This is akin to one of the attributes of Godly wisdom that we receive from living in the fear of God; the knowledge of it and of Him will be pleasant to our soul. Living in the knowledge of Almighty God and His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, is the most reassuring feeling in our soul each day. It comes from Someone whom we know we can trust and lean on each day. This is the true value of Godly wisdom.
Dear Reader, may you be reminded of God’s wisdom today – may your memories of knowing Him be pleasant and encouraging.
It is one thing for wisdom to find entrance into the soul, another to be welcomed as a “pleasant” guest. Albert Barnes.
