The Final Word Through Christ

God displays great order in Creation, and in the history of His people.

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
Hebrews 1:1-2 (NASB1995)

Here we remember the awesome reality of God speaking to man in the Old Testament through His prophets – the Almighty Creator speaking to His creation! I quote both verses 1 and 2 today, for they are one statement of God’s intention to continue speaking through His beloved Son, Jesus Christ.

For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you
1 Peter 1:20

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.
Colossians 1:16

God displays great order in Creation, and in the history of His people – we see order in His speaking through someone infinitely more superior to the human prophets of old. In the New Testament covenant, He speaks through His Godly Son. The proof of our Lord’s divinity is seen in verse two; first, He is God’s Son, secondly, He is heir of all things. And thirdly, He was involved in the Creation. Thus, He was far superior!

Dear Reader, not only does God have a plan, but He also has a time scale for that plan. We see this in the words “in these last days” from verse two. When the New Testament speaks of “the last days,” it refers to the time between Jesus’ first coming and the second coming in the near future. God’s plan is moving ever closer to the end of this age, and the beginning of a new, glorious age with a new Earth and His Son as our King. Are you ready for Christ’s return and our new future with Him?
