The Ark of Jesus

In the midst of the mess, He found Noah a man who was righteous and true. God said, “I’ll save you and your family, but there is something I need you to do.

There was a time in history long, long ago

When Earth’s evil stench wafted up to the Throne

God heard the outcry— checked it all out

And He wished He hadn’t created His “own”.

His “own children” (that is), made in His image

Had lost all their morals, consciences burned

Sold themselves out to debauchery and evil

All of the good in them had been evilly turned!

Turned away from God, turned away from good

Turned away from all-natural, God-given desire

No longer seeking a life full of blessings

But giving in to the lures of strange fire

Father God assessed the dire situation

And made a decision that was most severe

He would destroy the whole world with a flood

But He would save the ones who would “hear”

In the midst of the mess, He found Noah

A man who was righteous and true

God said, “I’ll save you and your family,

But there is something I need you to do.

I commission to you and your sons a project—

A gigantic, most unusual boat

Large enough to hold a mountain of things

But I promise you, this boat will float.

He called it the “Ark” and He gave them the plans

To build this monstrosity that would save them all

And as they worked, and were mocked and scorned

They would continually put out the urgent call!

“Come work with us, repent of your sin

And when this Ark is finished, you can go in

God Almighty has had more than enough

He’ll no longer put up with abominable stuff

You’ve perverted everything that was good

Repent right now, you really should

You can refuse and go on with your life

Full of violence, chaos, and strife

Consider the end of the life you chose

‘Cause one day soon the door will close

And when it does, the mercy ends

It will be too late for you, my friends!”

But the people went on with their busy lives

“Crazy” Noah was the talk of the town

Nothing changed in the lives they lived

They laughed and put Noah down.

But as they partied and as they mocked

The Ark was getting completed

Noah and his sons worked very, very hard

They would not be deterred or defeated!

And then one day, all of  the animals came

From every clime and each direction

God included saving them in His plan

His plan, though harsh, was perfection.

Still, in spite of this miraculous moving zoo

Entering the Ark- seven by seven, and two by two

Hearts were not touched, minds did not change

Men were not willing their lives to rearrange.

So one bright morning, that dawned like any other

God spoke to Noah, “Now your family must go in!”

They took one last look at the earth, and obeyed

God shut the door, on them, shutting out sin!

The waters of the deep rumbled and roared

Water heaving up, as if in pain

And from the sky, a never seen wonder

A  tremendous outpouring of rain!

For forty days, the rain came down

But in God’s time, dry land appeared

Noah’s family embarked on a fresh, clean Earth

All of the ugliness had been cleared.

Well, I wrote all that, just to simply say this:

The days of Noah are here again, my friend

There is a stench going up to God’s nostrils

And we’re getting ever closer to our end.

This time we don’t have to build an Ark

Because our Salvation’s  been procured

If we by faith and true repentance come to Jesus

Our safety in Him is assured!

His Door has been opened, the call has gone out

To repent and turn from our wicked ways

We don’t know the day and we don’t know the hour

Of that last call from the Ancient of Days!

That call when He says once again “ It is finished!”

The door to Jesus will really be closed

No second chances, no changing your mind

Much more final than some had supposed.

Mercy has ended, judgment has come

Earth’s time has been completed

Will you be safe in the Ark of Jesus

Or thrown into the pit, defeated?

And where does the Ark of Jesus land?

When He opens the door, where will we be?

In a most wondrous place called Heaven

By the shore of the crystal sea!!
