Sell Yourself to Live

Allow God to purchase your life with the blood of Jesus so that you may live and not die.

Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants of Pharaoh; give us seed, that we may live and not die, that the land may not be desolate. Genesis 47:19

Starvation and hunger will drive a person to do things that normally would not be done. Desperation for survival will push people to sell themselves out to get whatever is needed to stay alive. There is no price tag that is too high for a person to keep on living.

During the famine in Egypt, things had become so bad that the people went to Joseph to sell themselves and their land to him and the Pharaoh so that they could get food to eat and survive.

People want to live. In their focus to live, people will do whatever it takes. Defining what it means to live is different for different people who are in different types of situations in their lives.

The world looks at living as being alive and being able to have everything one could ever want. It is being happy at all times and not being held back. Living, in the world’s eyes, boils down to pleasing self at all times. On the surface, it looks like the world is living, but underneath, the world is dying in sin and selfishness.

True life is only found in Jesus. One has to be willing to sell out mind, body, and soul to Jesus to gain the life that He is willing to provide for them. It is taking self out of the picture and putting God in complete control.

The life He gives is abundant, full of joy, and eternal. It is one that overcomes all obstacles, both good and bad. Going through life, you have the desire to really live and keep living. Those of the world will try to get you to believe that they know what life really is. Don’t follow that way to death. Sell yourself out to Jesus, believing that He will give you the abundant and eternal life that He has promised. Allow God to purchase your life with the blood of Jesus so that you may live and not die. In Jesus, you will gain more than the world will ever be able to provide.

Has Jesus purchased your life?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the life God has planned for you; that you will live the holy life Jesus has purchased for you; that you will live and not die in Christ Jesus; and that you will know the value of being sold out to God.
