Seeking the Living Among the Dead

The false beliefs of this world are dead and cannot provide life.

Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” Luke 24:5

People are constantly searching for something. Often it is conscientiously looking for something that had been misplaced or lost, keys, wallet, phone, etc. Under the surface, people are constantly searching for purpose, meaning, or life. They want someone that will lead them to a better life than what they are experiencing in the moment. No place is not acceptable to search when a person is extremely desperate.

Luke records that as some women went up to the tomb of Jesus to see His body, some angels appeared and asked them why they were searching for the living among the dead.

All over the world, there are hundreds of different religions or philosophies that point people to some god or way to live life or give the meaning of life. Millions of people flock to all of these different beliefs and thoughts that are provided generously in the search.

On the surface there appear to be no problems with their searches, everyone can believe what they want. Yet, all of these searches are people searching for life among the dead. No one goes to a graveyard and looks into a grave expecting to find someone who is living. All the people who have died are dead.

This world is also dead, even as people walk around. The false beliefs of this world are dead and cannot provide life. One must not be looking for the living among the dead.

People must search for Jesus, the One who was dead and is now alive forevermore. Only in Jesus can one find true life and purpose in this life.

Have you ever searched for something and looked everywhere for it? Hopefully, you found what you were looking for. There are also times in which you were searching for life or the meaning of life. The world will try to get you to look to its false ways of what they call life. All the world will provide is death. This world is a big graveyard of dead people.

Look to Jesus, the true author of life. Only Jesus can give you a true and abundant life with everything you need. He conquered His own death and can conquer your death and the death in this world.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will seek to know Jesus more and more; that you will know the life He provides; and that you will be a witness for Jesus in this dead world.
