I will sing of the lovingkindness of the LORD forever;
To all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth.
Psalm 89:1 (NASB1995)
Our verse from the Psalms today is a powerful statement by the writer; it is a bold proclamation of his intent to praise God regardless of his circumstances. This is a bold statement of God’s amazing grace and character; He promises to faithfully provide and protect us in His perfect timing – we just need to believe and wait on Him. This was the case with the psalmist, and he praised God while he waited.
Whatever we may observe abroad or experience in our own persons, we ought still to praise God for his mercies, since they most certainly remain the same, whether we can perceive them or not. We are not only to believe the Lord’s goodness, but to rejoice in it evermore; it is the source of all our joy.” C.H.Spurgeon.
Dear Reader, praising God when all is well is easy; but doing so when we are in strife takes a special effort – it truly is a sacrifice of praise. May we lift His Holy name up today, regardless of our situation – there is a special peace to be found in such praise.
The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
