BUILDING STRONG HOMES podcast
HOST: CAROL ROPER
I cannot wait to share this week’s guest episode with you. La’Toya Guillory grew up as a latch-key kid with a single mom who worked two jobs to support her family. Because of her parent’s divorce, La’Toya decided when she was ten years old that she wanted to make a difference by either going into social work or going to law school. She landed on the former and received a bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies and her masters in human services with Specialization in Marriage and Family. But because she didn’t have a strong role model in her personal life, she thought marriage wasn’t a priority for her and decided she would have to give up any dreams of becoming a wife and mother. But when she met her husband, Kevin, she knew God had a plan for both of them to create a legacy together. Now they’ve begun a non-profit organization called Family Connection Inc. to help children between the ages of 16-21 successfully transition out of foster care by teaching them life skills to enter into the adult world. She also has a passion for casting a vision for your family and believes it can be used as a powerful tool to create purpose and stability in a home.
