BUILDING STRONG HOMES podcast
HOST: CAROL ROPER
This week I’m welcoming a precious young woman of faith to the podcast, Casey Jones. Casey’s world was turned upside-down when, during her pregnancy, she and her husband found out their baby had a rare, malignant tumor – so rare it is only found in 1 in 40,000 babies. She shares how the doctors recommended she deliver the baby at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a 13-hour drive from their home in South Carolina, and that she needed to be there weeks prior to delivery. Her high-risk pregnancy was an emotional roller-coaster of faith, praying that God would heal her baby girl and allow her to live while knowing God doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we want. Immediately after Skylar was born, she was rushed to emergency surgery and almost didn’t survive. After weeks in the NICU, Skylar was finally released to go home, only to find out a month later that the tumor had returned and she would need chemotherapy.
Although it has been a tough journey for Casey and her husband, Chris, their faith has grown exponentially as they learned to trust God with their baby girl. Because Casey is so passionate about sharing her faith journey with others, she’s written a book titled The First Year: A Testament of Faith and Miracles. Her story is real and honest and gives hope to those who are going through their own difficult journey. I know you’ll be blessed by Casey’s story.
