Needed Rest Coming

There is the struggle to resist sin in order to be able to follow God’s ways of living.

and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 2 Thessalonians 1:7

Working every day from morning till evening, and often six days a week, people are worn out and tired. Then they must come home to do various chores at home each evening, wearing them down even more. People are tired and want to be able to rest and relax. Each person finds different ways to slow down for a few minutes and rest, but even then, many are still worn out.

Paul talks about the troubles that the Thessalonian church is going through. He says that there will come a day of rest when Jesus is revealed from heaven with the angels.

Striving to get some rest is something that most people do. The world looks towards entertainment to find some rest. Yet, as much entertainment as is available, most do not get any rest or not as much as they desire.

Living the life as a believer, there are always many struggles. Along with the normal struggles of life that even the world deals with, there are struggles of persecution and ridicule. There is the struggle to resist sin in order to be able to follow God’s ways of living.

Weariness sets in and people want to be able to rest. Many get discouraged because they thought they would get rest as a believer, yet it seems to evade them and be just out of reach.

Believers should not be discouraged but know that rest is coming. There is a perfect rest coming when Jesus returns from heaven. And that rest will not be just temporary for a few days, but one for all eternity. All troubles will be done away with in that rest.

You have days when you are weary and worn out. You seek to be able to slow down and rest from all the struggles in life, but there does not seem to be a way to make it happen. Don’t give up and quit in life but hold out for the day when Jesus returns. Put your hope in Jesus and His promises. There will be a day when He will return and bring you into an eternal and perfect rest that the world cannot give nor know. On that day all your troubles will be over.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will put all of your trust in Jesus; that God will give you a vision of the rest that is to come; and that you will hold on to the hope for perfect rest that God is promising; and that God will give you the needed strength to keep going each day.
