Many Activities, One God

God is the one who is orchestrating everything to work together to build His kingdom.

There are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 1 Corinthians 12:6

Every large corporation has many different types of activities going on to keep the business running smoothly. There can be dozens of departments, with dozens of sections in each department run by many different people with different skills. Each one has a job to do and as they all work together in separate ways, the business is able to function well and produce products, services, and money as desired by the owners.

As Paul is talking about unity of the people, he points out that there are many different kinds of activities in the church, but there is only one God who works in all of them.

The world easily understands the need for diversity of activities to accomplish a greater task. Every product made is made by a variety of people with different skills and abilities to get the finished product. All have to work in unity in order to complete what is desired.

Any time that groups end up not working together, chaos occurs, and things fall apart and fail. While the world knows that diversity works in accomplishing a greater task, the world also fights for individuality to the point of destroying many desires.

Inside the church, there are also many different types of activities or ministries that God has set up to build His kingdom. One may work with children, while another runs sound.

Sometimes the individual ministries fight each other and think theirs are the best and most important. Chaos occurs and ministries fail, and churches split. Leaders in each activity must recognize that God over all of them and uses all of them in different ways. Working together they can build His kingdom and take back communities, cities, and nations.

You have an important job to do in God’s kingdom. It may look different than the activities other people are doing. Although your activity is different, it is no more or less important than the activities of others. Always keep in mind that it is God who is above all. He is the one who is orchestrating everything to work together to build His kingdom. Allow the diversity of ministries to work in unity and don’t fight each other or become too proud to work together. Allow God to be God and lead all in His way.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the activity God has for you to do in His kingdom; that God will bring unity between your work and the work of others in building His kingdom; and that God will use you to build His kingdom.
