For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you. 2 Corinthians 13:4
Day-to-day living can often be very tiring. All of the busyness and events in a life filled with many different trials can cause one to become very weary and weak. Being able to keep moving forward becomes difficult. One may feel that they do not have the strength to face another day or another challenge in life.
As Paul closes out this letter to the Corinthian church, he tells the people that even though Jesus was killed in weakness, He lives by the power of God. In the same way, Paul is weak but lives in His power.
Strength is something that the world loves. They see strength as a needed asset in order to make it successful in this world. Without strength, one is seen as worthless and a failure or a high risk. Individuals give up on life because they feel that they are weak and of no value.
Believers can easily fall into this same trap that the world is in. They see weakness as a failure.
Being weak before God is admitting that one cannot do what needs to be done in one’s own abilities or powers. At that point, one is able to cast oneself upon God and rely upon His power and strength to do what must be done.
It is allowing God’s Spirit to lead and guide the believer in the right steps and trusting God’s grace and mercy when one messes up. The more one leans upon God for strength and power, the more one can accomplish for Him.
Like most people, you want to be able to live life on your own strength and abilities. When you live in your own strength, you will fail and fall. Take yourself off of your own throne and place God on the throne. Live by His power and strength, which is unlimited. God is full of grace and mercy and will give you the power needed in your time of need to accomplish the task He has given you to do. Follow the example of how to live that Jesus provided and realize you cannot do it on your own but need God’s Holy Spirit to strengthen you.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will give your weakness and faults to God; that you will live in the power God has made available to you; and that God will build His kingdom through you.
