Heir By Grace

Being an heir to what God is offering has eternal value.

that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:7

Being an heir allows one to share in the estate of someone else at some point in the future. There is a hope that arises in getting a part of that estate, though it will mean death to someone to gain it. The greater the estate, the greater the gain that will arrive when the loss comes first. Often one does not need to do anything to gain the estate other than being a direct relative.

As Paul talks about the kindness of God with Titus, he tells him that they have justified and by His grace for the purpose of becoming an heir in the hope of eternal life.

The desire to be an heir is often very high among people who are related to someone very wealthy. People are looking at the extreme wealth and wanting it. Others only dream of being an heir to someone wealthy. The focus is upon the physical wealth and its immediate value.

Those who have extreme wealth will often put a lot of stipulations upon being an heir to that wealth. It is not a freebie to just anyone related.

Although having physical wealth can be helpful, it is only temporary. Being an heir to what God is offering has eternal value. This is something one does not have to work to gain.

Rather, than having to work to be an heir, all one has to do is accept the grace that God provides in Christ Jesus. God has mercy and grace upon each person who believes in Jesus and makes the believer an heir to the promise. It is Jesus who clears one’s sinful record and makes one an heir with Him of eternal life.

As a child of someone, you may be an heir to some estate. In the same way, you are an heir to a person, you can also be an heir with Jesus in what God has to offer. You cannot earn that position of heir but need to put all of your trust in Jesus and be cleansed of all sin. Be made an heir with Him in the promise God has given. Have the hope of a future life in heaven with the Father for all eternity as an heir to the promise.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the hope you can have in Jesus; that you will know that you are justified before the Father by His grace; that you will be an heir with Jesus in the promise of God; and that you will have the hope of eternal life with God.
