When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” Luke 7:9
Finding someone who stands out as extremely good at one thing is not very common. Most people are just average in everything that they do with nothing standing out as great. A few people will be able to excel at one thing to the point that they stand out as great among many, sometimes in the nation or world.
Luke records that a centurion had come to Jesus to get his servant healed but did not want Jesus to come to his house. Jesus was amazed and said that He had never seen such great faith, even in Israel.
Having a basic faith in something is easy when everything is understood and simple. It is much different when things are desperate and not very simple. It becomes even more difficult for people when the solution cannot be physically seen or touched.
People want to know what is going to happen and exactly how it will occur. Knowing all the details will remove faith from the equation. It then becomes self that is solving the problem, rather than faith in someone or something else.
Those in the church, who have a belief in God, will often fall short on their faith in God. They have faith in God to a point, but there is always a ‘but’ in their faith. Many will feel that God may not be able to do something or will not do it for them. As a result, they do not have great faith.
Believers should believe God no matter what. Their faith should stand out as great among all. God can do anything, and one should have great faith in the impossible.
You may already have some faith in God and have seen Him do some good things in your life. Knowing this, you must ask yourself if your faith is great or not. Are you willing to trust God with the impossible, knowing that He can do it in His way and His time?
Do not allow any doubt to enter your mind or heart. Trust God with everything and believe His promises. Allow your faith to be so great that it stands out as amazing in all your nation.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will have great faith in God’s promises; that God will do great things in your life and through you; and that you will see the miracles of God in your life.
