Follow Jesus

Make the choice to not follow the false directions of this world but follow Jesus.

This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.” John 21:19

Driving down the road, going cross country, people need to have some type of directions to guide them on their journey. In days past, people would pull out a physical map to guide them. Later, many would have a GPS device. In current times, most people have a GPS app on their phone to give them the needed directions. In order to get to their desired destination, they needed to follow the GPS system.

John records that Jesus that right after giving Peter an idea of how he would die, Jesus tells Peter to follow Him.

People desire to have a great life and are looking for directions. Directions can be found everywhere a person goes. One can see physical signs telling people which way to go to find nearly everything a person could ever want.

Without physical signs, the world will also strive to tell a person how to go places that appear to look good on the outside. They give directions on how to live a life of sin and to follow some false religion. All of the directions the world gives lead to death in the end.

The only way to find true life and fulfillment is to follow the one True direction. One needs to follow Jesus. It is only Jesus that provides the directions to eternal life in heaven. He paid the price of sin by dying on the cross and rising from the dead, making Him able to take away all sin and give life. As one follows and obeys the directions Jesus gives, one will be led down the right path of righteousness and holiness.

Each person must choose to follow Jesus.

In this world, you will need directions many times to get to some destination you desire to go to that you have never been to before. Just as you need directions to get to that location, you will also need directions on how to get to heaven.

Make the choice to not follow the false directions of this world but follow Jesus. Rather than lead you down a false path to death and destruction, He will lead you on a path of righteousness and holiness leading you to God and heaven.

Are you following Jesus today?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will follow Jesus wherever He leads you; that you will trust the directions of Jesus; and that you will walk the path God has for you on your journey to heaven.
