Do You Not Believe?

The greatest news you can be told is that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay for your sins.

And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe. Mark 16:11

News about many different things floods the ears of people every day. Most of the news has nothing to do with the individual and thus does not mean very much. Occasionally there is news that one hears does affect the individual and sometimes to a very large amount. Sometimes that news is so great that one cannot fully comprehend it or believe that it is possible. At those times, it is often just ignored as impossible.

Mark records that after some women had seen the empty tomb and were told that Jesus had risen, they went and told the disciples, and the women were not believed.

Belief in something that someone was told about that is nearly impossible is difficult for most people. They want to believe, but the circumstances and logical facts do not support it, causing unbelief to remain in their hearts and minds. People want to physically see and know themselves about what happened.

The world tries to say that Jesus is dead and gone, never to return. No one today was physically alive when Jesus walked on the earth. Instead of seeing Him physically, people see Him in visions and spiritually so that they know He is alive. When the world is told, most will not believe it.

Believers in Jesus know the truth and hold it dear in their hearts. No one can convince them otherwise.

Just as the women went and told others that Jesus is alive, believers need to go out and tell the world that He is indeed alive. Some will believe, while others will continue to refuse to believe that Jesus is alive. Each person must make their own decision as to whether to believe or not.

There probably have been times in which you were told news that was too great for you to believe. Some of those things proved later to be true, while some things proved not to be true. The greatest news you can be told is that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay for your sins. He is ready to give you forgiveness and eternal life, the greatest gift possible. You have to make a choice as to whether you believe the good news about Jesus or not.

Will you believe? Or will you be like the disciples were at first and refuse to believe?
