Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 1:9
In order to belong to most groups there is an expectation for one to follow certain guidelines that are set by the group as a whole. These guidelines are needed to ensure that everyone is on the same page and working in unity. Anyone who refuses to accept the guidelines is not allowed into the group or they may be removed if they are disobeyed.
John directly states that anyone who disobeys God and does not hold to the doctrine of Christ does not have God. On the other side, anyone who accepts and obeys the doctrine of Christ has both God the Father and Jesus the Son.
Every business, organization, and nation has certain policies in place that one must follow to be a member. These are put in place so that everyone understands what is expected of them. It creates some unity that is needed in order to be able to function and grow.
Although the world has a lot of guidelines to live by, they also have exceptions to those guidelines. Obeying rules is blurred and not always required bringing about chaos and misunderstanding.
God is a God of unity and order. Through Jesus Christ, He has set in place how a believer should live one’s life and what is required to have fellowship with Him.
Many in the church try to find loopholes to obeying God’s commands. When this is done, they have rejected God and no longer have Him.
Believers are to love God and show that love by holding on to the doctrine of Jesus Christ. In this way, they will have both the Father and the Son.
There are guidelines that you must follow to live and work where you do. It helps to guide you so that there may be unity. God has given you His guidelines through His word. Each day you have to make a choice to abide by those guidelines. When you choose to reject those guidelines, you are also choosing to reject God and Jesus. Make the choice today to obey all of God’s commands and live by His standards. Abide in the Father and in the Son as you obey them with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the commands God has for you; that God will guide you in living for Him; that you will make the choice to live for God; and that you will always abide in the Father and the Son.
