Companionship With God

The foundation of all intercession is knowing the heart and mind of God.

Our companionship with God is a partnership formed with Him. It is from that companionship that revelation is released. Without understanding our role in that companionship, we will fall away from our commitment to pray for the fulfillment of His promises.

Those who are the watchmen of God are His intercessors. They are people who call on and remind the Lord of His promises. They partner with Him in committed prayer until the time of fulfillment arrives.

The foundation of all intercession is knowing the heart and mind of God. The noun for the word “love” is used only once here in Isaiah 63 and means, “a love which delights in the companionship of the loved one” (vs. 9). In the same verse, the Lord is described as one who “carried them through all the years” even when no evidence of the fulfillment of God’s promise was yet present.

When we understand we are in companionship with God and have the knowledge that He will carry us through all the years of intercessory prayer, that understanding is what defines a person as a true watchman. When we share the joy of companionship with the Lord and align ourselves with His promises, we will see individuals and nations transformed by the Lord in powerful ways. We have been assigned to remain on the wall in faithful prayer no matter what we see coming that has been designed to produce fear and cause us to abandon our post before the fulfilled promise has arrived.
