Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2
Employers are always seeking out people to hire who are able to do the job and are faithful at doing the job. In the hiring process, many will check with a person’s previous employer to see how the person worked. They want to know if the person was faithful to the job position, or if the person tended to skip out on doing the job. There is a need for a person who will do the job, even when the manager is not around.
Speaking to the Corinthian church, Paul tells them that is required that stewards are always found to be faithful in their work.
One way to destroy a business is to have workers who are not faithful to getting the job done correctly. The business will lose money and customers when the workers are not doing what needs to be done. It shows that the business cannot be trusted to perform the services with integrity.
Many people go to work and slack off on the job. Nothing happens in the immediate moment, so they feel that they are free and clear.
In God’s kingdom, there are many workers doing many different types of jobs. Each person is a steward of what God has blessed the person with. A steward of the things God has given, and a steward of the job God has called the person to.
Just as in the workplace, there are many believers who slack on being a good steward for God. They are not faithful in living the life or doing the work God has called them to.
Working in the power of the Holy Spirit, every believer must be a faithful steward in God’s kingdom and family. This means doing what is right, even when no one else is watching.
You already have some things that you are faithful in doing. Others can count on you to get those things done in the right way and time. God has also given you some tasks to do in this world. Some of those tasks may be big, while others may be small. It is your responsibility to be faithful and do what God has given you to do.
Ask yourself if God can depend upon you to be the good and faithful steward He has called you to be in His kingdom.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God has called you to do; that you will be faithful to do God’s work in this world; and that God will see you as a faithful steward in His kingdom; and that God will use you to build His kingdom.
