10 Bible Verses About Victory in Jesus

We can stand on this powerful promise: Nothing can ever take God’s love away from us.

It rained last night—a penetrating, drenching rain.  I sat beside the window this morning as robins pranced across the soggy earth, my heart feeling as melancholy as the grey sky above.  Opening my Bible in search of Bible verses about victory in Jesus, I let the words wash over me.

Bible Verses About Victory in Jesus

Perhaps you could use some inspiration as you aim to rise above the cares of the world today, too.

If so, let’s open God’s Word together.

10 Bible Verses About Victory in Jesus

1. 1 John5:4-5(ESV)

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Have you been born of God by deciding to follow Jesus?  If so, claim this promise: You are born of God, and you overcome the world.

By exercising your faith (trusting God in challenging situations), you will find victory in life’s battles.

2. Colossians 2:15

He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

When Jesus died and rose again, he disarmed the authorities in the spiritual realm.  He won the war against Satan.

As a follower of Jesus, you can stand in his authority.  You have victory in Jesus because his death and resurrection won the war on your behalf.

3. Ephesians 6:10-12

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

At times, it can feel like we’re battling with other people or systems of this world.

These verses remind us that our battles are not against flesh and blood.  The primary battles in this life take place in the spiritual realm.  We can overcome these battles by speaking God’s Word, shielding ourselves with faith and trust and God, and pressing into Jesus.

4. 1 Corinthians 15:55

O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?

Jesus overcame the sting of sin and death when he died on the cross for us.  He set us free to live for him instead of being slaves to sin.

If you feel bound by some sin in your life, turn to Jesus.  Ask him to show you what you can do to step into his victory.  He will lead you.

5. 2 Corinthians 10:4

For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

We don’t fight spiritual battles with literal swords and shields.  Yet we have been given power from God to stand against spiritual attacks and destroy thoughts and attitudes that oppose God.

6. 2 Timothy 1:7

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

We find victory in Jesus when we refuse to cower in timidity and, instead, embrace the promise that we have power and self-control.

God fills all followers of Jesus with the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit lives in us and gives us power and guidance.  Tap into this power for greater victory today.

7. 1 John 3:8

Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

Jesus came to earth to destroy the works of the devil.   We partner with him by refusing to allow habitual sin in our lives.

We all sin at times.  Yet we find power when we refuse to willfully disobey God.

Is God speaking to you on this matter?  What is he showing you?

8. Romans 8:1-2

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

Do you feel ashamed, guilty, or condemned when you consider your sins?

God wants you to know that if you have received Jesus as your Savior, he no longer condemns you.  Feelings of shame and condemnation come from the enemy.  Rise above these feelings by receiving God’s forgiveness and refusing to submit to the voice of shame.

9. Revelation 21:4

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.

As we consider these Bible verses about victory in Jesus, this promise for the future can give us all hope.  One day, God will create a new earth.  There will be no more pain, sadness, or suffering.  We will all live with him forever.  Victory is coming for all believers.

10. Romans 8:38-39

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Last, we can stand on this powerful promise: Nothing can ever take God’s love away from us.

Do you want to live in victory in every realm of your life?  Cling to the promise that God’s love will never leave you.
