Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord.” Song of Solomon 8:5-6
These are the words of the Shulamite woman to her beloved in Song of Solomon chapter 8. They are words of longing, of desire, and of love. In these verses, she is declaring these words to her Beloved— whom she is sealed to in intimate and unbreakable love— for not even death can break their seal.
Her words paint the image of love— a seal illustrates intimacy, death illustrates strength, and fire illustrates divine power.
We have been sealed in the unbreakable bond of love with Christ— our Bridegroom. He made a way for us when he broke the seal that secured the stone holding him in the grave. In that moment he died and released the fire of his love upon all those who will believe from that time onward.
The seal that was placed upon our hearts when we were resurrected from death to life through faith in Jesus, is an UNBREAKABLE seal!
His Spirit entered us and sealed us in divine covenant that is everlasting and eternal.
Yesterday, the Lord spoke to me and said that he is sending the wind of his Spirit to fan into flame the smoldering embers of our love and desire towards him. Though his love toward us never wanes or diminishes— our love can dim or even grow cold as hardships, life, and pain pull our attention and our hearts toward the things of this world (the temporary things).
We all experience seasons in life that feel like our love has become dim or cold— and this is when we need to remember that it is the “flame of the Lord” (verse 9) and the wind of his Spirit that fans the smoldering embers within our hearts.
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.” Acts 2:2
His rushing mighty wind will come and fill your heart again with the fire of love for him. Our personal lack or inability to love as he loves does not separate us from him— though you may “feel” far off— you are not because HE IS NOT!
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 8:38-39
NOTHING CAN SEPARATE YOU FROM HIM!
It was not you who sealed his love in your heart, it was not you who broke the seal on the tomb that separated him from us, it was not you who initiated the new covenant and it was not you who paid the price to purchase you as his own.
You are NOT far off and you are NOT separated in any measure from him. You merely need the rushing wind of his Spirit to come and fill your house and your heart once again. Reject any belief and every thought that you have done something to grieve him away because of how you have been feeling.
He answered the longing of your heart when you first met him— to be sealed upon his heart. And he sent his Spirit and his love to seal you with an unbreakable and eternal seal that NOTHING can break.
Today, if you have been feeling far away from him, return to the truth of his promised presence and love (Romans 8:38-39). His fiery love will rekindle the smoldering embers of your love and his Spirit will fan them into flame. Like those who waited in the upper room (at his instruction), wait in the upper room of faith for his rushing wind to fill you once again.
Rivers of pain and persecution will never extinguish this flame. Endless floods will be unable to quench this raging fire that burns within you. Everything will be consumed. It will stop at nothing as you yield everything to this furious fire until it won’t even seem to you like a sacrifice anymore.”
Song of Songs 8:7 TPT
Nothing will extinguish the flame of his love toward you. Nothing!
