Will You Depart From the Faith?

As a believer, you are a part of a pillar and foundation that the world needs to know.

but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:15

Pillars of ancient times were something that held up a roof or an overhang section of the roof. They have to be solid and on a firm foundation in order to accomplish their task properly. If the pillar is either not solid or on a firm foundation, it has the chance of crumbling under the weight of the roof or tipping in the soft ground.

After giving Timothy some guidelines on deacons, he tells him that he is writing so that he can know how to act inside the house of God, which is the church, the pillar and ground of truth.

The world does not have a solid foundation on which to stand. Without God, people are constantly changing what they believe and how they should do things. How one feels can change from moment to moment and it is acceptable in this world. Their arguments about what is right or wrong crumble under the sandy foundation and loss of truth.

On the complete opposite side, the church is made up of believers who have chosen to give their lives to Christ and to follow the ways of God. Their foundation is solid, firm, and full of truth, being built upon Jesus and God’s word.

In this world, it is the believers who hold up truth. They stand against the false lies and deception of the enemy, holding up God’s truth for all to see. When chaos is going on all around, it is the church, believers, who can bring peace and hope with His truth.

As a believer, you are a part of a pillar and foundation that the world needs to know. Make sure that you are founded upon Jesus and His word so that you have a solid foundation in your life. Hold on to the truth of God’s word and apply it to your life and then present it to the world for all to see. Be the church of the living God that can present hope and life in a world of chaos, death, pain, and suffering. Be the pillar God has made you to be.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will have God’s word as your foundation; that you will be a pillar for God to hold up truth in this world; that the world will see God’s truth and foundation in you; and that you will show the world the hope they can have in Jesus.
