I have waited for your salvation, O Lord! Genesis 49:17
Waiting is something that people do not usually like to do. It feels like one is wasting time when they are waiting for something to happen. The time of waiting appears to be even much longer when the waiting is during a very difficult time in life. Often, people feel that there is no real purpose for the slowdown and having to wait. Blame for why the waiting must occur is placed on others, and many give up waiting and try to do something else or go somewhere else.
As Abraham was dying, he blessed his sons. He tells Dan that he will be a judge, and then Abraham tells God that he has waited for His salvation.
Going through a difficult time is very hard to do. Patience wears thin waiting for an end to the hard times to finally arrive. Often, there is no end directly within sight, and it appears that it will never end.
The world turns to many different things in order to cope with the waiting for an end to their troubles. Giving up hope and quitting are the most common. They do not want to keep waiting for salvation, but want to bring it on by their self.
Believers can sometimes feel the same way with God. They put their trust in God, but then are going through a difficult time with no sign of salvation within sight. Some will choose to get off track and move away from God’s plan for their lives, trying to solve it on their own.
One needs to wait patiently for God to bring about the needed salvation. Just as one waits in faith for Jesus’ return to bring one home to heaven, one must wait for God to bring about salvation from the troubles in this life.
Just as you will have to wait in line at a store or in traffic, you must also wait for God to deal with the difficulties in your life. In His time and His way God will bring about salvation in your life from the troubles that rise up and torment you. God will bring about His judgment and vengeance against the things done against you as you put your whole trust in Him and wait on Him for His timing and way.
Do not give up, but keep waiting.
Today, I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, that you will know God will deal with the difficulties in your life, that you will wait patiently for the salvation God will provide, and that you will see God’s hand work through the challenges in your life.
