Times of Refreshing

Do not allow yourself to chase after the things of this world, the sin and death that is claimed to give life.

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, Acts 3:19

Working hard daily and fighting to pay bills takes a toll on people and wears them down. The desire for restoration and a time of being refreshed with renewed strength and energy fills the mind but always appears to be just one day away out of reach. New things are tried every day as they seek to find fulfillment in life to keep moving forward.

Luke records Peter talking to the people after seeing the miracle of a man being healed. He tells the people to repent and be changed so that times of refreshing can come from the presence of God in their lives.

The world teaches that if one can have just a little more money, a bigger house, a better car, an exotic vacation, and a little more fun, then one will be refreshed. All the hard work will be worth it. Yet, as people gain and do more and more, there is more weariness and loss of real purpose. There is still something missing in their lives.

One of the things the world does not remove is sin. Sin is accepted as good, which pulls a person down and sets them on a path to death, not life.

Instead of living in sin, one is to repent, turn away from all sin, turning to God. This allows God to convert and change the person into a whole new person, one with meaning and life. Walking the path God has for a person gives one a new refreshing strength and purpose in life. There is a new hope that comes with the presence of God in one’s life and the removal of sin and death.

The weariness of the struggles of life can easily wear you down. Everything may appear to be hopeless and without real life. Do not allow yourself to chase after the things of this world, the sin and death that is claimed to give life. Turn to God and repent of all sin. Allow God to remove the sin in your life and give you a new life that is refreshing and full of purpose and meaning. Be the new creation God has called you to be in Christ Jesus and have times of refreshing strength that comes from His presence.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will repent before God of all sin your life; that you will allow God to change you to who He called you to be; that you will know the presence of God in your life; and that you will be refreshed with new life each day.
