“But you have been anointed by [you hold a sacred appointment from, you have been given an unction from] the Holy One, and you all know [the Truth] or you know all things. 1 John 2:20
The more I have grown over the years in the Lord, the more I have learned to listen and pay attention when I feel the Unction to Function. The Holy Spirit always gives me a “heads up” when He is preparing to use me somehow for someone else’s benefit.
It’s not that we rely on what we feel as much as we do on the Truth of God’s Word. However, the Unction or anointing that God has placed upon my life was put there like a trainer to teach me how to be obedient to move when I’m told to by God.
So many out there have asked me over the years, “How can I be sure to know when God is actually speaking to me and that it’s not something else”? This is why the Unction was so important to me. He used the anointing that He placed upon my life to train me not just to hear His voice but also to know when He was about to connect heaven and earth through me for someone else, whether it was a circumstance, a situation, or something else. He would signal me through the anointing and then I’d hear His Voice as I responded to that Anointing.
I like the way the Amplified Bible puts it when it says, “YOU HOLD A SACRED APPOINTMENT,” I call them “DIVINE APPOINTMENTS,” where you and I become like a mediator between God and the other person or situation.
It’s during those DIVINE APPOINTMENTS where God causes His anointing and power to flow from Him, through you and into that other arena (like a Holy Spirit conduit), causing the Kingdom Power and Dynamic to visit and touch someone else’s earth.
The Unction is For Function, not position! Too many people think that their title in the Kingdom constitutes their Function in the Kingdom of God, but it is actually the other way around. It is the fruit upon the tree that tells you what kind of tree it is, not the tree dictating what the fruit is.
If you think you’re an Apostle, but you’re displaying the Fruits of an Evangelist, then it is the title that’s incorrect in your life, not the fruit that you’re displaying. God gives us Grace according to the measure of His gifting for our lives.
However, if we learn to follow the Unction, He will cause us to Function according to that Grace, and His Power will manifest in places where we are obedient to His Unction!
Consider this life your training ground! The Holy Spirit has given you the Unction to Function, to do those things that you’ve been created to do in Him from the beginning (Romans 8:29-30)!
Don’t limit God’s ability to flow through your life because of your view of your abilities. It’s never been about what you can do but what He will do through you! Step out in obedience when the Unction comes and watch as He causes Heaven to visit someone else through your Earth!!
