There’s a Tree upon my property that every time I look at it, I’m reminded of God’s Faithfulness and His Promises to me. This isn’t because of the fact that it’s a living thing as much as it is the fact that it was completely dead a few years ago.
While there are a lot of people who believe that the Lord uses sickness and disease to teach them things, I have become more convinced than ever that the Holy Spirit uses His Resurrection Power and Life to teach us instead.
While it’s true that the Lord will turn everything that the enemy meant for evil against us for our good, HE NEVER PUTS SICKNESS UPON US TO TEACH US! Sickness, disease, and infirmity are enemies of the King and His Kingdom, for if they weren’t, Jesus Christ wouldn’t have taken those stripes upon His back to redeem us from them.
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.” Isaiah 53:5
A few years ago, California had a massive drought that lasted for almost 5 years. During that time, I lost many trees, rose bushes, and other plants simply because there wasn’t enough water to keep them all alive.
During that time, one of the trees that had dried up and died was a little black walnut tree behind my neighbor’s house. Almost a year later, I was out there mowing my grass, and the Holy Spirit interrupted my mowing and told me to, “GO OVER AND LAY YOUR HANDS UPON THAT TREE AND COMMAND IT TO COME BACK TO LIFE!”
I had absolutely no faith for it to happen, as I was dealing with a lot of issues during that time frame, but I did it anyway out of obedience to what the Lord said, not expecting anything to really come of it, honestly.
Three days later, I was out there hunting for eggs from my free-range chickens, and THAT TREE WAS GREEN! I ran over to it and new leaves were popping out of its branches!
I was absolutely astonished by this, and I said, “LORD, WHY?” And He said, “WHENEVER I TELL YOU TO DO SOMETHING, I’M NOT ONLY GIVING YOU A COMMAND TO DO IT, BUT I’M ATTACHING MY POWER AND MY PRESENCE TO WHATEVER I’VE ASKED YOU TO DO!”
While many have been duped into believing that sickness and disease are their teachers, I’ve become more aware than ever before that if you’re ever to mature into the Image of Jesus Christ, you must be trained by Resurrection Power (The Holy Spirit)!
While this may require some massive changes to the way that you think and currently live, they are absolute necessities in my opinion! We need the Mind of Christ instead of our own, and we need Transformation, not conformity to the world around us.
If that Same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in you, then your Resurrection Teacher does as well! For He’ll not only teach you the Word of God and real Relationship with Jesus Christ, but He’ll teach you how to operate like the True Son or Daughter of God that you are!
