I just recently finished reading an interesting book, the biography of A.W.Tozer by James L. Snyder. (Purchase here.) I have been fond of the writings of A.W. Tozer for some years, being introduced to them by a dear brother in Christ (a former pastor). “The Pursuit of God” was my first book by A.W., and it has deeply impacted my personal walk with God for the better.
This biography was an easy read, yet some passages certainly needed more thought and prayer as they challenged me. When a foreword of such a biography begins with a commendation by Leonard Ravenhill, you know that the man written about is truly a man of God. The book covers much of A.W.s personal life and ministry (writing and preaching) in short chapters. A lovely feature is that each chapter ends with a “Tozer-Gram”, these are short devotional paragraphs written for the “Alliance Weekly” the periodical of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
Dear Reader, I certainly recommend this book to you. It gives an interesting insight into a man for God, and it will surely challenge you in your own walk with God.
“The work of Christ on the cross did not influence God to love us, did not increase that love by one degree, did not open any fount of grace or mercy in His heart. He had loved us from old eternity and needed nothing to stimulate that love. The cross is not responsible for God’s love; rather it was His love which conceived the cross as the one method by which we could be saved.” A.W.TOZER
