As soon as I opened my eyes on the morning of July 15, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “For many of My Sons and Daughters, I’m going to give them Five Smooth Stones just like I did King David! These Five Smooth Stones aren’t just to deal with the Goliaths in their lives, but they are My Grace for the challenges that they’re preparing to face in the days coming!”
“Then he took his staff in his hand and chose FIVE SMOOTH STONES OUT OF THE BROOK and put them in his shepherd’s [lunch] bag [a whole kid’s skin slung from his shoulder], in his pouch, and his sling was in his hand, and he drew near the Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:40
One of the important things to note about David’s smooth stones is that he didn’t just pick up any old rock from the ground, but he specifically went to the BROOK and got them from the place where the water constantly flowed over them.
The washing of the water of the Word of God always removes the rough edges off of our lives and smooths off all of the jagged places in us. It also removes all of the debris from the stones, making them easier to use down the road.
The fact that David chose 5 stones, many people thought that it was just in case he missed Goliath with the first stone, he would have more ammo if necessary, but I don’t think David ever thought that he would miss with the first stone.
Five is the number of God’s Grace for starters, but there’s also the fact that David knew that if He took out Goliath, he was going to have to contend with Goliath’s whole family as well, and it’s believed that Goliath had four brothers.
God is going to Arm many of His Sons and Daughters with His Grace in a special way, to not only take down the giants that they’re facing currently, but also any others that the enemy decides to send their way in the future!
The thing that we need to always remember is that when we’re doing these battles, they aren’t carnal battles, our warfare isn’t against other physical people, and our weapons are supplied to us by the Word of God!
The fact that David took his stones from the Brook is the same principle as us taking our weapons from the Book (Bible)! Those weapons are crafted by the Washing of the Water of the Word and formed by God, not man.
So when we equip ourselves with those weapons (using the tools and equipment that God has supplied us with), those Stones will find their way to the Mindsets and the Agenda of the enemy!
David’s Stone hit Goliath in the head, not only knocking him out, but dismantling the enemy’s thoughts and purposes that he had in mind for each of us! Much of the warfare that you’re going to experience will manifest against your mind, because you’re always going to have to battle every imagination that exalts itself against the law of God.
God’s Word can bring peace to your mind and heart as you continue to meditate upon that Word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit’s tutelage!
If you’re fighting some Goliaths today, go to the Brook of God’s Word and ask the Holy Spirit to give you your 5 Smooth Stones, because those Stones will always find their mark when you’re being led by the Holy Spirit’s Presence!
