Looking beyond ourselves, cities lying in ruin, we inquire.
As hate, violence, and destruction take place, we tire.
As boasters, blasphemers, and the unholy rule, they devour.
Challenging all that’s holy, despisers of good ravage in power.
Tearing down pillars of truth, they march to overpower.
Lovers of pleasure with forms of godliness, they preach.
Without self-control, they stand headstrong to reach.
As slanders, lovers of themselves, self-righteously, they preach.
Traitors and unthankful to all that’s good, they blaspheme.
Creating whirlwinds of destruction, in their hearts, they scheme.
Standing in their way, His righteous ones stand in durability.
Though perilous times abound, we look to Him above for ability.
Putting complete trust in Christ’s sufficiency, we personify.
Enduring hardship in perilous times, we press forward to exemplify.
His anointing filling, nothing is too difficult in committing to rectify.
For such a time as this, in the Lord’s garments, we clothe.
Putting on gentleness, patience, and peace, we abound in His love.
In His wisdom and truth, we boldly proclaim to those snared.
In humility, correcting those who oppose, His word, we preach.
Though once snared, they come to their senses, as we beseech.
