Rest and Restoration

When it was time to leave I was rejuvenated and ready to recommence my service of the Lord.

Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon.
Matthew 15:21 (NASB)

We all need a break sometime from the business of everyday life; a chance to rest and recharge our batteries. This was the case even for our Lord Jesus, who took the disciples to the seaside of Tyre and Sidon after a particularly busy time of ministry.

There was a time several years ago when I was struggling after a long time of ministry in the Christian bookshop where I worked. The Lord saw this and placed it on someone’s heart to bless me with the funds for a break, which made it possible for me to visit Holy Island in Northumberland for a week. I had a lovely time of rest and communion with the Lord; walking around the island and spending time in the church or prayer room. When it was time to leave I was rejuvenated and ready to recommence my service of the Lord in Kirkcaldy; indeed the blessings I had went on to be blessings of encouragement to other Christian friends.

Dear Reader, our Father God will sometimes lead us to a quiet place to rest and recharge just as he did for me. We need not feel guilty for He will bless others through you when you return to your service of Him!
