Promoting Sin

The world needs to hear the news that they are dying and need a Savior, who is Jesus.

And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree. 2 Kings 16:4

Regardless of where a person lives or goes there is always something being promoted or advertised as something needed. Businesses and people are selling things all the time as the latest and greatest item that is needed by every person.

Not only are physical things being pushed, but there are also activities, ideas, and philosophies being promoted. Overall, the things being promoted are the same regardless of where one is at in the world.

When Ahaz had become king, he offered sacrifices and burned incense everywhere possible to false gods.

In some nations, there are very few people who will worship an actual idol as though it is god, many will sell their lives out to some physical item or philosophy in life. Promotion for all of these items is very high.

Ads abound everywhere that promote sin and sinful practices as good and needed. People in prominent positions are leading others in doing sinful acts. The world rejects God and following God in order to pursue their own personal pleasures and to push others into those sins.

Believers are to reject the ways of the world and leave the life of sin. Instead of participating in sin and promoting sin, believers are to promote the good news of Jesus. The world needs to hear the news that they are dying and need a Savior, who is Jesus.

In the same way that the world is promoting sin in every high place, hilltop, and under every spreading tree, believers need to tell others about Jesus and God’s required holiness. Life is to be promoted, not the sinful ways of death that the world is following and promoting.

Although you may not be a king and lead thousands of people, there are people who are watching you and following your examples of what you do or do not do.

Every action you do or don’t do is promoting something. Either it is promoting the sinful ways of the world, or it is promoting Jesus and the standards of God.

As a believer, your every action should promote God and His standards. Regardless of where you are, you have the ability to be a shining light of God for the world to see. It can encourage other believers and point the world to Jesus.

What are you promoting today?

Today, I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will follow the ways of God in all of your thoughts and actions; that you will show the world Jesus in all that you say and do; and that you will turn from the sinful ways the world is promoting.
