Priests Violating God’s Law

As a priest, every believer is to stand out as different and holy unto God.

Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.

Ezekiel 22:26

Every nation has laws that are expected to be followed. In every nation, there are also people who refuse to follow the laws. Many will try to interpret the laws and change the meanings to the point of blurring what is good or bad.

Ezekiel records God talking about the priests having violated His law and not distinguishing what is holy or unholy, clean or unclean. They have also profaned Him among the people.

During the biblical times, the priest was the one who led the people in what God said. In modern times, most people see a priest as someone who leads a church in that same way. They could also be called pastor, preacher, deacon or elder. Peter changes all of this to call every believer a priest.

The world does not know God and so the world lives in complete sin and corruption. This level of sin and corruption has been allowed in the church. There are many who claim to be believers, priests of God, who are violating His law. Sinful acts are accepted and even promoted by believers as good and acceptable to God. In some churches, there is no longer any distinction between the holy and the sinful.

As a priest, every believer is to stand out as different and holy unto God. Believers are to reject all sin and make known what is holy and sinful to God to all other people. They are to no longer violate God’s law.

As a believer, you are a priest set apart for God to use. You are to be witness to the world as to what is holy and sinful, clean and unclean for the world to know. All of your actions and words are a sign unto the world as to what you really believe and who you really follow. Ask God to reveal to you if your actions and words violate His law or not. Are you distinguishing between the holy and the sinful?

Be the holy priest God has called you to be through the saving and transforming blood of Jesus.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the difference between the holy and the unholy; that you will be a witness to the world of God’s holiness; and that your life will not profane God in any way.
