It’s important to know where prophetic revelation comes from. This week during part 1 of prophetic revelation Amie Rogers and I dive into the terminology of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Heaven. We want to make sure we are getting prophetic revelation from the 3rd heaven. Maybe when you hear this terminology, you tend to be skeptical or discount it altogether because it is often attributed to hyper-spiritual charismaniacs. But – we must be careful to discount something because:

1. We don’t understand it

2. Because others misuse or abuse the terminology

3. It’s associated with bad/wrong/off-nutty people or beliefs.

Instead, we must go to Scripture. We must be diligent not to allow our own spiritual, religious, or legalistic mindsets to get in the way.

We must discern and test…everything. 1st, 2nd, 3rd Heaven terminology has gotten a bad rap because people misuse it to make themselves sound more important/special or super spiritual. Some have used it to build their platforms and create whole ideologies around themselves or a concept. This is dangerous.

So what does Scripture actually say about 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Heaven?

Probably the one people use most when talking about the heavens, particularly the 3rd heaven, is 2 Corinthians 12:2. Paul says, “I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body, I do not know—God knows.”
