Overcoming Power

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith. 1 John 5:4

Power is something that many try to grasp and hold on to. People desire to have power and authority over others and over their own destinies. Gaining complete and total victory is the goal of many in every area of life. People want to be the best and beat everyone else out. Throughout time various people have risen up through the ranks of different areas of life to become the best, but only hold it for a short time.

John tells us that anyone who is born of God will overcome the world. That victory is found in their faith in Christ Jesus.

The world is ready to step on and crush anyone who gets in the way of success. Striving to be the number one is the goal at nearly any cost. Although someone becomes number one for a while, it is usually short-lived before someone else rises higher and steps on the former.

Being overcome is a common feeling people have. The result of being overcome is depression, sickness, and death. Hope is nowhere to be found in the world outside of Christ Jesus. On the opposite side are believers who have the ability to overcome any situation that the world may throw their way.

Being able to overcome the world and all of its troubles can only be found in having faith in Jesus. He has overcome the greatest obstacle to humans–death. As the believer puts complete faith and trust in the Lord there is nothing that can stop that faith and trust. Through faith, God can work the greatest of all time miracles in and through the believer.

Walking through life you will meet many obstacles in your pathway that will try to tear you down and destroy you. The world will appear to be bigger, more bad, and stronger than you are. Defeat appears to be imminent. Put your focus upon God and trust in Jesus. He has overcome death and will give you the strength to overcome everything thrown your way. All you must do is put active faith in Christ Jesus the risen Lord and Savior. With that focus, there will be nothing that God cannot give you victory over.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will have faith in Christ Jesus; that God will help you overcome the world; that God will show you the way out of every bad situation in your life; and that be born of God in every area of your life.
