Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
John 14:6 (NASB 1995)
On Saturday, I was at a local supermarket for some groceries, and it was busy… it always is at the weekend. Parking can be a bit of a hit or miss, but praise God, I found a space not far from the doors. On my way out, I obeyed the one-way system using the only exit lane, but I came face to face with a guy driving the wrong way. I waved and pointed in the direction of traffic, and the penny dropped. I got a thumbs up and a sheepish smile as he turned around after I passed. Not everyone is so nice when you point out that they are going the wrong way, but he was, which cheered my heart.
As I drove through the town on the way home, I pondered the incident and its spiritual significance. Thomas wasn’t sure of the directions for following Christ in our scripture, but the Lord pointed out that He was the way – the only way. It is heartening to know that Thomas and the other disciples took their Lord’s directions and applied them to their lives.
Dear Reader, do we share Jesus’ directions with others in our lives at every opportunity? I had a recent opportunity with someone I love dearly as we drove to Edinburgh; it was a naturally occurring conversation for a few minutes, then we spoke about other things… but the seed of God’s One-Way was sown again. When we share, we sow Gospel seed, which one day will sprout, pointing to The Only Way to Heaven.
