No Room For Sin

Make it your goal to put on Jesus so much that you leave absolutely no room for sinful pleasures.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:14

Stepping out into something new can be scary, not knowing what could be ahead. Having a fallback plan is common for many people. They want an ability to go back to something that they knew previously if what they are trying fails. When one has this plan, it makes it easy to give in and go backward, rather than to continue to fight going forward, refusing to go back.

As Paul talks about the end of time coming near to the Roman church, he tells them to put on Jesus and to make no room for the flesh or sinful desires to fall back into sin.

Prior to believing in Jesus, all a person knows is a life of sin, fulfilling self-desires, not knowing that there is a high price to sin. There is no solid foundation on which one will base living upon. It is the only a life of pleasing self in whatever manner necessary.

Once a person chooses to believe in Jesus, everything is to change. One becomes a new creation, someone new, someone different. Jesus has removed all sin and given the solid foundation on which one is to live.

Many in the church have chosen to believe in and follow Jesus, but often leave the backdoor open to sin. They want to fulfill the sinful pleasures in their hearts and minds that the world is pushing on them once in a while.

Rather than keeping the door open to sinful pleasures, believers are to fill themselves with Jesus so that there is no room left for sin. In following Jesus, there is enough to do to take up all of one’s time, leaving no room for sin.

In examining your life, do you find yourself at times falling back into sinful habits? During those times take a look at how much you have put on Jesus. Make it your goal to put on Jesus so much that you leave absolutely no room for sinful pleasures. Put your focus on living for God, not for self. In that process, you will live a life filled with purpose and life, and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh that the world is pushing upon you to do.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will live the life Jesus has paid for you to live; that you will focus upon God so much that you make no room for sin; and that God will give you the strength to overcome all sin in your life.
