Laying Aside Our Old Identity.

Maybe you feel unlovable, unacceptable, unworthy, inadequate, or not fit for the job.

Then Peter and the other disciple jumped up and ran to the tomb to go see for themselves. They started out together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He didn’t enter the tomb, but peeked in, and saw only the linen cloths lying there. Then Peter came behind him and went right into the tomb. He too noticed the linen cloths lying there, but the burial cloth that had been on Jesus’ head had been rolled up and placed separate from the other cloths.   John 20:3-7 TPT

The linen burial cloths that had been wrapped around Jesus’ body after his death on the cross were rolled up, laid aside and left in the tomb on the day of his resurrection.

Jesus left everything that pertained to his old creation, in the tomb.

Is there anything pertaining to your old identity that you need to lay aside today? Are there any issues of relevance, attributing to an old mindset or belief that needs to be rolled up, laid aside and left in the tomb?

Maybe you feel unlovable, unacceptable, unworthy, inadequate, or not fit for the job. Maybe you feel like a failure, fearful, anxious, weak, not smart enough, not good enough, caught in bondage that you feel like you can’t get out of. Maybe you’re in a situation where you feel unwanted, depressed, hopeless, condemned, or alone. Maybe you feel like nothing special like you can’t reach God, or you’re afraid of what the enemy is doing. Maybe you feel unconfident.

Whatever it is, I want to challenge you today to identify what it is and then ask Jesus to give you his perspective about it. Ask Him to help you roll it up, lay it aside and leave it in the tomb where it belongs.
