Recently, during my meditations, the Lord reminded me of an issue which Nehemiah dealt with regarding the House of God in the Old Testament:
“Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the chambers of the house of our God, and was related [by marriage] to Tobiah [our adversary], Prepared for Tobiah a large chamber where previously they had put the cereal offerings, the frankincense, the vessels, and the tithes of grain, new wine, and oil which were given by commandment to the Levites, the singers, and gatekeepers, and the contributions for the priests.” Nehemiah 13:4-5
The priest of the Temple at the time had given the enemy a chamber in the house of God, and the enemy had set up residency as a result.
How often do we give the enemy a place in our lives, sometimes without realizing it, and he then comes into that place in our lives where the Lord was going to place something else from Him in?
As we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit, and His Presence and Power are designed to inhabit our lives, how often are those areas where God wants to reside filled with other things which the enemy has been allowed to place there?
Too often, we make covenants (or agreements) with things that should never be allowed in our lives, and the results are often disastrous for us because of it.
Many of those things, like infirmity, sickness, disease, are enemies of God, and are sent by the enemy of our souls to steal, kill, and destroy us, because Jesus Christ comes to give us life and that in Abundance.
The place where the enemy had set up residency in the Temple of God (in Nehemiah’s time) was supposed to be housing the cereal offerings, the Frankincense, the vessels, the tithes of grain, the new Wine, and the oil, but they had been removed and displaced by the enemy’s presence.
These things which were supposed to be in that room, were the provisions for the priests, the singers and the gatekeepers; so in other words your connection to God, your Worship and the Prophetic had been displaced (for the Priest represents your connection to God, the singers represent your worship and the gatekeepers are the Prophetic) [for the prophets are watchmen at the gates].
The enemy of our souls would love nothing more than to find a room in our lives, displace something of the Lord’s that’s currently there, and take the place of those things away from God in an attempt to carry us away from the Lord’s Destiny for us.
I want to be as Jesus Christ was when He Declared, “THE GOD OF THIS WORLD IS COMING AND HE HAS FOUND NOTHING IN ME!”
“I will not talk with you much more, for the prince (evil genius, ruler) of the world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. [He has nothing in common with Me; THERE IS NOTHING IN ME THAT BELONGS TO HIM, and he has no power over Me.]” John 14:30
If you have found yourself giving room for the enemy in your Temple today, maybe it’s time for a Holy Spirit checkup! Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of your life where you may have given the enemy room, and if you find anything there, give him an eviction notice!!!
Throw the enemy’s stuff out and bring back whatever God wants there as a replacement, and watch God’s Glory come and fill your house because of it! Give the devil an Eviction Notice in Jesus’ Mighty Name!!!
