In God’s Presence

It does not matter where we are as long as we are in the presence of God.

For better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Psalm 84:10 (BSB)

Recently, when I was tending the door of the church on Sunday, I welcomed a particular brother in Christ with my customary smile and handshake. He smiled back, saying, “Thank you, doorman,” and I laughed, responding with today’s verse. It was our usual good-humoured banter, which I love, but the verse we shared resonated with us for a while that day.

The truth of our chosen verse is simple; it does not matter where we are as long as we are in the presence of God. We do not need a high place of honour if we have a humble place with God’s company; in Him, we have the best we can ever hope for.

Dear Reader, if you love the Lord and your service is lower than those with great responsibility, rejoice in it – God is with you in it. Rejoice in His presence and shine for Him!
