How Do They Speak Of You?

The world will tell you what they want you to speak so that you will be liked.

Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for so did their fathers to the false prophets. Luke 6:26

In social media, people desire everyone to like them and like their posts. It is a constant fight to get the most views. People desire to be liked and spoken well of by everyone. The more views and the more likes that a person gets, the more the person feels value and worth. Many will work hard to figure out just what people are looking for and give it, regardless of personal values.

Luke records Jesus telling the people that it is bad for them when everyone is speaking well of them because their fathers had done the same with false prophets.

The world loves to hear certain things. When a person speaks what the world wants to hear, then that person is liked and thought of greatly. As a result, many will ignore personal beliefs or feelings to say what is desired. They are being false to themselves and to the rest of the world.

Inside the church, there are many who desire to be liked by everyone else. With that strong desire to be liked, many will also choose to ignore God’s commands and speak like the world. They will give the message the world wants to hear rather than the truth God wants them to speak. They become false prophets.

Even though the world will like a false prophet, God will cast out the false prophet.

Believers are to be careful to only speak what God says, speaking only His truth, regardless of what people want to hear. It is God’s truth that the people need to hear, not the false lies of a false prophet that only tickles their ears and sends them toward hell.

The desire to be liked is very great. The world will tell you what they want you to speak so that you will be liked. In order to be liked by the world you will have to speak as the world does. Speaking in that manner will be speaking false lies of the enemy, not the truth of God’s word.

Be careful that you are not seeking to be liked by the world. Make it your focus to be liked and approved by God, not the world. It is God who gives you true life and value, not the world.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will reveal the words you are speaking; that you will only speak the truth of God’s word; that God will reveal if the world likes you too much; and that you will be approved of God in all that you say and do for Him.
