Have you ever thought of yourself as actually being the place where the Holy Spirit resides? Have you considered the magnitude of those words? You are a dwelling place for the Most High. A place where the likeness and holiness of God can be seen and encountered. He enters in us and then lives within us. Transforming every part of us that needs fine-tuning so that the work He has planned for us can be achieved.
It’s a beautiful and sacred space. Our bodies being temples for the Holy Spirit. He in us and us in Him. Entering and then entwining our entire being making us more whole and more beautiful and more holy.
Yet we still at times hold back from this encounter and renewal.
Even though He wishes to hold sacred space within us and gives it so freely.
So why do we resist?
It’s really simple because we are human and not God. We are weak, but He is who makes us strong.
Funny how we sometimes try to push Him out, not making Him our sole source of strength and power. We forget how intimate He is with us and try to replace Him with either a human being or some kind of materialistic goal we have in our human mind for success. All the while when we have total and complete fulfilling access to the Creator of all things. The One who made it all and will finish it all.
We forget to hold sacred space.
We need to continually transform our minds.
Clear away any distractions.
Make Him your first thought, your first desire, your first breath, your first everything.
Even if He was not before, He can be today.
He washes all the old with new and our sins become as white as snow.
Let’s all hold that sacred space that no one on this earth can steal unless we ourselves allow it.
I like to sit every day with my coffee in the morning. The sun just starts to come up behind the mountains that I can see out my windows. It’s slow at first. Just a small bit of light entered into what was the darkness of night. The morning fog lifts and the whole atmosphere seems to engage the majesty of creation. It welcomes the light. It’s a new day with new beginnings. All of this is possible because God has created it and with His Words spoke it all into existence.
This is what it is like when you allow Him to take and hold sacred space. He enters gently and slowly, taking over your entire being until His light shines forth for the whole world to see.
An indwelling of such magical proportions that it is sometimes too much for the human mind to understand—the pure holiness and beauty of God. The sacred living space of all things ever created coming down to meet you and live within you for eternity, calling your name constantly if you forget who He is.
It is a complete and fulfilling relationship compared to no other.
So today I ask you to invite Him into all your space within you.
Let Him fill your heart, mind, and soul with His never-ending, never failing, all-eternal, and life-giving spirit.
That is what holding sacred space is.
There is no room for anything but Him.
“I will transform you and make you into a different person. As I train you to hear My voice, you will become a sharpened instrument in My hands. These are the days that I will train you and instruct you in My ways, giving you many secrets of what I am about to do. For I will make you a missionary of hope to many. You will be a voice that always brings life to others and grace to the weakest ones. I will put words in your mouth that have never been declared or spoken before. I chose you for a purpose, and My plan for your life will be fulfilled.”
PROVERBS 8:32–35 TPT
So listen, my sons and daughters to everything I tell you, for nothing will bring you more joy than following my ways. Listen to my counsel for my instruction will enlighten you. You’ll be wise not to ignore it! If you wait at wisdom’s doorway, longing to hear a word for every day, joy breaks forth within you as you listen for what I’ll say. For the fountain of life pours into you every time that you find me, and this is the secret of growing in the delight and the favor of the Lord!
