Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, Luke 8:1
Throughout the world, there are hundreds of thousands of villages and cities filled with around eight billion people. While there is internet and television, getting information to all of those people is a huge task that takes a lot of people. There is very little to no information that they all know at the same time. Yet, there is information that they need to know.
Luke records that Jesus, with His disciples, went through all of the cities and villages to bring them the good news of the kingdom of God.
The world is quick to push news and information that they think is important. News channels often around the clock pushing information. Radio stations are interrupted with weather warnings or a missing person’s alert. Billboards are plastered everywhere pushing something that is available or about to happen.
Most of the information being pushed is not life-threatening important. Knowing or not knowing what is being pushed will often not have a life-changing effect on a person, though some will.
Every town and city is filled with people who are dying and need some good news. Believers have that good news that people need to hear. That news is all about the kingdom of God.
No one can get into the kingdom of God without believing the good news about what Jesus has done. No one can believe that good news unless someone tells them. And no one can tell them unless someone goes.
Believers are to be like Jesus and go into all the cities and villages bringing the good news of the kingdom of God–that Jesus saves.
You are hit with a ton of information every day. While some may be important, most are not. As a believer, you have the greatest news of all time, news that will affect a person for all of eternity. You have the news of Jesus Christ having died, rose again to bring salvation to those who believe and will return one day.
Be willing to go out into every city and village and spread that good news. Everywhere you go is an opportunity to share that news with someone.
Are you going out with the good news for the world to hear?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will be willing to share the news of Jesus with others; that God will direct you to cities and villages to spread His good news; and that God will touch the lives of many through your work.
