How often do God’s people worry about whether He will save them from things too big for them? When we stand in a place where there is no way to cross over— do we run the other direction in fear, or do we wait for His deliverance to cross over to the place that He called us to be?
Yahweh is the one who has authority over every earthly thing that stands as an impassible and impossible obstacle in front of you.
In the Book of Habakkuk, we hear about His “chariots of salvation” that were sent out when the seas and rivers needed to be parted. Let’s revisit that portion of scripture,
“Was it in anger, Lord, that you struck the rivers and parted the sea? Were you displeased with them? No, you were sending your chariots of salvation! You brandished your bow and your quiver of arrows. You split open the earth with flowing rivers. The mountains watched and trembled. Onward swept the raging waters. The mighty deep cried out, lifting its hands in submission. The sun and moon stood still in the sky as your brilliant arrows flew and your glittering spear flashed.” Habakkuk 3:8-11 NLT
Even the mountains watched and trembled at the submission of the mighty seas and rivers at the Lord’s command. Do we believe that the Lord will still deliver His people from those things that are too big for them?
God has not changed, and His chariots of salvation still exist. He still is the God who brandishes His bow and His quiver of arrows for you today. This was not only for the Jewish people in days gone by. God sees the obstacles that are standing before you, and He will once again release His chariots of salvation on your behalf.
Your circumstance is not too small to capture the attention of our God! Every earthly thing must submit to His authority when He speaks.
I cannot count the number of times that the Lord has led my husband and I to a place that is impassable and asked us to watch and see His hand move so that we could pass over and arrive where He asked us to go. Whether it was another nation or another state, His authority was necessary for us to cross over.
I also cannot count the number of times that we stood in front of an impossible circumstance and had to wait for His salvation to come to save us.
Often in times of trouble or impossibilities we are tempted to run the other direction. Fear comes to try to persuade us to abandon the path forward due to the impossibilities that stand between us and the destination that God has for us. Whether it is a financial impossibility or a sea of adverse circumstances— if the Lord has promised you something then He will make a way through.
At the beginning of Habakkuk 3, the prophet prayed these words,
“I have heard all about you, Lord. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your wrath, remember your mercy.” Habakkuk 3:2
You can pray this over the circumstances and obstacles that stand before you. You can recount the times that He delivered His people from impossible places and know that the same God who sent “chariots of salvation and brandished His bow and arrows” is your Father, and He will not leave you without help.
Wait for Him!
He is faithful to deliver you from even the most impossible circumstances.
